Kingpin is a woven, backed upholstery fabric, which adds stability to the fabric. This helps with durability and abrasion resistance in the long term. Some upholstery fabrics are not backed because they are woven for slipcover fabric. Without a backing, fabric can stretch and move better than fabrics that have a backing to them. Fabrics with backing will resist stretching and slouching when permanently upholstered to furniture. Whether you choose backed or unbacked fabric will entirely depend on how you intend to use the fabric.
Kingpin is the only fabric that has a small amount of acrylic fibres woven into its composition. Acrylic is a synthetic fibre that is very durable in terms of colorfastness and light fastness. Acrylic can also be easily cleaned, which makes it a practical upholstery choice. This fabric is also great for both residential and commercial use.
Together with its Polyester blend, Kingpin also, to a point, resists shrinkage and wrinkles, is soil and oil resistant, is quick drying, surprisingly soft, and is easy to clean
