Boucle 3 (pronounced ‘boo-clay’) is the third addition to our ever-popular Bouclé. It is characterised as a more textured, chunkier pile, and is best described as a woven or knitted fabric with boucle yarns. These yarns are produced from a number of different loops. So, some of these loops feature large circlets, and others feature tiny curls.
Boucle 3 is derived from the French word meaning “curled” or “ringed”. Therefore, it can refer to a yarn made from a series of looped fibre, or the fabric made from it. Wool is the most common fibre to undergo the technique. Although cotton, linen, and silk have also been used to achieve the fabric’s texture. The Fabric Fox has opted to have the Boucle fabric made from Polyester. Therefore, this means that it is easy to clean and is affordable to the consumer. Boucle fabrics have become a staple of fashion houses and midcentury furniture designers.
